25 Oct 08 - 2 Cadets at Cosford
Two 886 Cadets represented the Region at the recent Junior Inter-Regional Hockey Tournament held at RAF Cosford.
Whilst not exactly triumphing (the North came 5th out of 6), both reported having a thoroughly good time.
Corporal McCarthy and Cadet Waddington endured a bus journey that took 2 hours longer than scheduled before settling down to what they described as an "interesting" night's sleep on the gym floor.
The day then played out for the North as three draws and two lost games which was not quite enough to secure victory. Corporal McCarthy captained the team and commented that playing with such a "mixed standard of players provided it's own unique challenge". However with the able assistance of vice-captain Waddington they did at least manage to enjoy the games.
There was still a sting in the tail to follow as the journey home ended abruptly with the bus breaking down on the outskirts of Manchester. Fortunately C.I. McCarthy was in Leeds already and was on hand to recover the situation within the hour.
