26 Oct 08 - Trio takes to the air
Well actually there were four Ripon Air Cadets who seized the opportunity to fly from RAF Church Fenton this weekend; but out of the group no less than three were first time flyers in powered aircraft.
Firstly they received a briefing to cover all necessary safety precautions, the equipment to be worn and details of the flight itself. They then proceeded to kit up, not forgetting the essential but hopefully never-to-be-used parachute.
So into the air! Cadet’s experiences included Maughan's flight over York, Waddington junior flew over his house in Ripon and for Waddington senior, the one experienced flyer - aerobatics was the order of the day.
All agreed it had been a very worthwhile visit.
