31 May 08 - Newby Hall Air Assault Extravaganza
On the 31st May 2008, a small group of cadets attended the Newby Hall Air Extravaganza equipped with the RBL replica spitfirea, an ATC recruitment stall and a well practiced drill sequence from Wing Training Day, which we performed to the delight of the crowd on the parade square.
The day included a ground display of aircraft along with some short air displays of vintage stunt planes, military helicopters and parachutists.
Cadets worked on a rota throughout the day: either helping out with the Spitfire; manning the recruitment tent; or being free roam the fair, buying dogtags and ice creams. Amongst the fun activities dotted around, there was an Army inflatable assault course present on which we held a very funny flight competition - after a great contest, B Flight were named the victors.
The day ended with a large march past on the parade square, with a party of vetrans with us. Overall, the ATC put its name out to the public and entertained visitors whilst we cadets enjoyed a fun day out!
